Front Dana Model 30

This Dana 30 features an open knuckle design with 7 1/5 inch ring and pinion. It was used on CJ's made between 1972 and 1986. Although the same model axle has been used for almost 25 years, they are not compatible. From 1972 until 1976, Dana 30 used 11 x 2 inch Drum brakes, after 1977 Disc brake where standard. The Dana 30 used on the CJ's had 5 on 5.5 inch wheel bolt pattern, while other models used 5 on 4.5 inch pattern. Outer parts - from the knuckles out- can be switched among different years. This means that drum brakes can be easily upgraded to disc brakes or upgrade from weak 5-bolt locking hubs can be upgraded to stronger 6 bolt locking hubs.
